DIY Sugar Scrub with Extra Virgin Avocado Oil
Sugar scrub makes a great DIY Valentine's Day gift for your family, friends or co-workers, and making your own simple sugar scrub is super easy. Most recipes call for one part oil, one part sugar. For a gift sized jar of sugar scrub, we used a 1/2 cup of CalPure California Extra Virgin Avocado Oil and 1/2 cup of raw turbinado sugar. Lavender is in season here in Central California, so we also added a 1/4 teaspoon of locally made lavender essence, a 1/4 tsp of lemon essence and a few freshly picked lavender springs.
Here are more ideas for your own sugar scrub recipe:
1 Part Oil
Grapeseed oil is full of vitamin E, making it an excellent choice for your skin. It is also has a neutral scent, so it won't compete with the essential oils you add to your scrub.
Extra virgin avocado oil is full of monounsaturated fats and vitamin E and is an excellent moisturizer. It is also hypoallergenic and works great on sensitive skin.
1 Part Sugar
Raw coarse sugar works well for hand and foot scrubs, while brown sugar works well as an all purpose body scrub and fine white sugar makes an excellent face & neck scrub.
